Can't claim the credit for the lighting show, but isn't it impressive?
No, I just mixed the sound - shame you can't hear that!
Those were the days...
...almost entirely analogue....
...wonder where they are now?
Very analogue
Who are those guys?
Where'd everyone go?...
...Ah, that's better...
...The Fundamental(s) things apply
Alice in wonderland!
Countless gigs, thousands of hours spent on design and development, and continual reinvestment into improving the sound system, have led to constant evolution of the equipment and facilities we can offer
...But by Woodfest - 2017 Wow! Compare with the current "Festival" rig
Woodfest II - 2018 How things have changed since then
They are actually dual systems, one for music, the other for vocals only - a bit like the Grateful Dead?
"My, what big loudspeakers you have, Grandma?"
"All the better to give you a hernia lugging them around, my dear..."
Wow, heavy? they weighed 52kg each!! Sorry, we're getting too old to haul this kind of thing around.
Also the lack of horn-loading of 12" cone speakers means the sound sprays everywhere.
Plus the jump from 12" speakers to 1.5" compression driver leads to a lack of clarity in mid-range frequencies, just where the vocals need to cut through the mix. The look, a bit post punk industrial?
So, what ya gonna do about it?...
This will chuck out higher sound
pressure levels than the JBL gear, with
far better dispersion control,
dramatically improved clarity, and is
MUCH easier to handle
Add the 18" sub, and you're well on the
way to a rather good 4 way FOH
system - but don't forget the stub pole
makes all the difference, really
Some folk are never satisfied....
Last gig before a...
...major system rebuild...
...and the first one afterward
As are mic cables -I did say obsessive!
Yes, and weigh 38kg each! Sorry, but they just had to go, too.
In the beginning....
...then later on...
...later still...
and to give it some context...
These were originally designed for drum-fills
But they sounded so good that another pair was built, and together make a lovely baby system
Flat within +/-1dB from 70Hz - 850Hz; -3dB @ 63Hz
I have nothing further
to say on the matter
Yes, it's a different Mix Wiz
A&H do make exceedingly good analogue desks
Yep, owned it, but never gigged it
Sadly no pic of my PA:CE MM12
...but this is a nice one
and the ubiquitous 4560's...
Take an (extremely) ordinary pair of JBL4722X...
[there's no such thing as a single box, two speaker solution!]
...Rip out the guts...
... re-build with horn-loaded B&C 8", B&C compression driver and 60x40 degrees horn...
...Add a garnish of HF dispersion control/coupling enhancement...
...et voila!
here are two I made earlier;
...but where are the reflex ports?
Sorry the images are in jelly telly...
...but this is proprietary info
ZHOOSH - the last word in LIVE SOUND
To be continued...with you?
